Nearly twenty-five years have passed since the death of Lord Voldemort, the end of the war. With the dark lord out of the picture for good, the Ministry has gone about its business rounding up and prosecuting former Death Eaters—using the same tactics that it employed after the first war. Only this time, there’s no fear of a second uprising.
People were quick to put the horrors of Voldemort’s wars behind them, and now a new, more peaceful page has been turned in magic history. At least that’s the story the Ministry is selling. While the government is busy selecting a committee to coordinate the twenty-fifth anniversary celebrations, Voldemort’s followers are planning something far more sinister. Gathering in secret, the Death Eaters have slowly limped along, surviving the aftermath of the war and waiting for the perfect moment to establish themselves as a major threat to the safety of Magical Britain.
Meanwhile at Hogwarts, the Headmaster hopes to lead the school into a new era of tolerance and acceptance, a place where pureblood and Muggleborn students can study together peacefully. But can ancient prejudices really be washed away in the blood of one war? Facing outrage from pureblood parents and alumni, Hogwarts is accused of disrespecting the great tradition of pureblood families that have been sanctified within the school halls for generations. The underground Death Eaters have been given a cause to rally behind: Hogwarts, a school once molded by purebloods, now fallen into the hands of Muggle sympathizers.
Average wizards and witches go about their day jobs unaware of any threat. The students of Hogwarts studying for their magical educations, believing naively that they’re growing up in an era of radical change and new ideas.
